China's ministry of industry and information technology (miit) officially issued four 5G licenses to China telecom, China mobile, China unicom and China radio & TV at 8:00 on June 6, 2019, marking the official entry of China into the era of 5G.
As a network revolution, 5G is of epoch-making significance. Whoever can be the first to commercialize 5G will gain the strength to enter the competition of emerging technologies in the future, such as the Internet of things, autonomous driving and other fields. At present, China has become the fifth country to officially use 5G after South Korea, the United States, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Compared with the process of global mobile communication construction, China's mobile communication construction has experienced the blank of 1G, backward of 2G, catch-up of 3G and synchronization of 4G, and now it has finally ascended the first echelon of 5G technology with wisdom and sweat.
Operators with 5G licenses are equivalent to those with licenses. The base station construction, wireless bedding and network optimization in the early stage will be verified by consumers and the market in the first time. In the process of verification, operators will find problems, solve problems, summarize problems, and formulate reasonable and compliant network optimization and maintenance plans, which will greatly reduce the investment in the later stage and accelerate the network construction speed.
5G is the fifth generation of mobile communication technology. The advantages of 5G are mainly reflected in its three unique application scenarios: enhanced mobile broadband, ultra-reliable low-latency and massive machine-like communication. For the average user, the most intuitive feeling is that the Internet speed is faster, users can download a high-definition movie in less than a second. In addition, 5G will enable more devices to be connected and data interoperable, with a wider range of applications, such as smart cities, smart homes, drones, augmented reality, virtual reality and the Internet of things.
Currently, global 5G is entering a critical period of commercial deployment. With the combination of independent innovation and open cooperation, China's 5G industry has established a competitive advantage. Today, the official issuance of 5G commercial licenses in China marks that China has entered the era of 5G, and the industrial revolution brought by network upgrading will also enter a high-tide period.
Many leaders of the mobile industry also cheered the official issuance of 5G commercial license. Lei jun, CEO of xiaomi, and chang cheng, CEO of lenovo, both said on their micro blogs that today is a good day and we welcome the official arrival of 5G.
